The government is currently transferring approximately 1,200 employees from the Road Development Corporation (RDC) to the newly established Infrastructure Development Solutions (IDS). While work is underway to finalize the company’s new organizational structure and salary framework, allegations have surfaced that employees are being pressured to sign as members of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC).

As part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government downsizing initiative, the administration has decided to dissolve the Road Development Corporation (RDC) and transfer its approximately 1,200 employees to the Infrastructure Development Solutions Company Limited (IDS).

A source informed RaajjeMV that all top-level executives at the Road Development Corporation (RDC) will be transferred to senior positions within the Infrastructure Development Section (IDS). Furthermore, employees who sign up as members of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) will also be transferred to the new entity.

He stated that a decision has already been made to transfer between 1,000 and 1,200 employees to IDS.

Regarding the ongoing efforts, the official stated that the company's organizational structure was approved on Monday, followed by work on formulating the salary framework on Tuesday. He further noted that once these tasks are completed, the documents will be submitted to the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB).

While the government is in the process of dissolving the Road Development Corporation (RDC) under the guise of cost-cutting measures and transferring its extensive workforce to another entity, Infrastructure Development Solutions (IDS) has emerged as a new company established by President Muizzu in 2025. A total of MVR 20,000,000 (twenty million) has been allocated for this company in the 2026 budget; however, the budget for the current year does not forecast any direct revenue generation from the firm.

The primary objective of this wholly state-owned enterprise is to spearhead infrastructure development projects across the Maldives' most populated regions and various other islands. At the time of its establishment, the government stated that the company would focus on construction, casting, and related services using modern technology and resources, in alignment with the administration's economic agenda.

However, one of the primary justifications provided by the government for the dissolution of RDC and Fenaka was the duplication of functions across multiple state-owned enterprises, which has led to an unnecessary increase in public expenditure.
