A video has surfaced showing the deteriorating condition of Addu Equatorial Hospital, with rainwater leaking throughout the entire facility.
RaajjeMV has obtained video footage showing significant water leaks at Addu Equatorial Hospital, with buckets and towels placed across the facility to manage the situation. The footage depicts water dripping from the ceilings and staff using buckets to collect the leaking water in an effort to keep the floors dry.
When RaajjeTV’s "Fashaairu" program contacted Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) to seek information regarding the matter, the hospital stated that such details could only be provided by their media department. However, the hospital's call center claimed they did not have the contact details for the official currently in charge, as the regular media staff member is on leave. The call center added that they would verify the information and return the call.
While this year’s budget has been branded as a "health sector budget," many are raising questions as the main hospital in the Maldives' second-most populous city falls into such a dire state. Furthermore, a significant number of citizens are expressing their concern over the government's apparent lack of effort to resolve the situation.
