If a nation's social moral fabric unravels, its downfall is imminent: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the downfall of any society is imminent if its culture, mindset, and social ethics become corrupted.

Speaking at the official ceremony marking the day the Maldives embraced Islam, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that the holy religion of Islam is the soul of the nation's cultural sovereignty. He emphasized that it is of utmost importance to maintain the Maldives as a hundred percent Islamic state.

The President stated that according to some social scientists, if a society's culture, mindset, and social ethics become corrupted, its downfall is imminent.

In his remarks, the President highlighted that it was the guidance of Islam that eradicated the darkness of polytheism and the social injustices prevalent in Maldivian society prior to its conversion. He noted that Islam instilled in the hearts of Maldivians the fundamental truth that all human beings are equal before Allah, while ensuring the sanctity of human life and providing protection for the dignity and property of all citizens.

Highlighting the critical importance of safeguarding the intellect, the President underscored that narcotics represent a grave scourge that devastates families and the fabric of society as a whole. He emphasized that the nation can only be shielded from such perils by adhering to Islamic upbringing and values. The President further stated that collective efforts are essential to build a productive and wise generation through the cultivation of sound reason and intellectual reform.

Reflecting on the nation's history, the President stated that every time Maldivians rose to defend their country, it was driven by a spiritual resolve to protect their faith. Citing the jihad led by Utheemu Maharadhun against the Portuguese, the President noted that the Maldivian society was saved because the people remained a hundred percent Islamic nation, and because there were no traitors to the faith among them at that time.

Concluding his remarks, the President urged the public to renew their spirit of faith and remain resilient against the challenges arising from the currents of globalization. He further called upon all Maldivians to shape the nation’s religious future by fostering devotion within every individual heart to strengthen the entire community, while appealing to the citizens to ensure that the Maldives remains a hundred percent Islamic state for all time.
