Highlighting that work on the harbor jetty and the construction of a new school have also failed to progress, the MP emphasized that the commencement of essential infrastructure vital to the island's development continues to face significant delays.

From President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s meeting with the residents of HDh. Nellaidhoo. | President's Office
It has emerged that no progress has been made on two key pledges made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to HDh. Nellaidhoo: the road construction project and the housing development initiative.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, Hussain Ziyad, the Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, expressed deep concern over the lack of progress on key government pledges in Nellaidhoo, stating that no work has commenced on any of the major projects promised for the island.
Highlighting that most of the development projects currently visible in Nellaidhoo were completed during the MDP administration, MP Ziyad noted that the harbor project had been finalized and the construction of a jetty for dinghies had been contracted to MTCC. However, he stated that the work has not progressed under the current government.
The harbor project included plans for a dedicated jetty within the basin to accommodate dinghies. At the time, MTCC even mobilized the necessary equipment and materials to the site. However, those materials have since been removed, and to this day, no progress has been made on the project in Nellaidhoo. Similarly, in an apparent election-related move, Fenaka Corporation hired staff to construct a mosque in the island. They dug a hole and laid a small foundation, but the work has remained at a complete standstill ever since, with no further development in Nellaidhoo.Hussain Ziyad
Furthermore, MP Ziyad highlighted that many pledges outlined in the government's manifesto remain unfulfilled. He noted that projects to upgrade the local health center, construct a new budgeted school, and demolish old school structures have seen no progress. MP Ziyad further stated that the construction of a futsal pitch has been stalled for three years. He also pointed out that the installation of lights at the sports ground—a key promise made during both the parliamentary and local council elections—has yet to move forward.
