Yameen hits back at MP Shujau: Speak only on matters you understand

Former President Abdulla Yameen has hit back at remarks made by Baarashu MP Ibrahim Shujau during a PNC rally in Ukulhas, advising the lawmaker to speak only on matters he is well-informed about.

During a PNC rally held on Wednesday night, MP Shujau launched a scathing critique of former President Yameen. Shujau claimed that during his presidency, Yameen spent most of his nights playing cards, while the actual administration of the state was conducted through the Ministry of Housing. He further noted that, at the time, the party office had been sidelined in favor of a "Madam's Office."

President Yameen responded to Shujau's remarks during a gathering held at the PNF Front Office on Thursday night.

In this regard, President Yameen stated that during his administration, numerous matters required the collective deliberation of the entire cabinet. Consequently, the cabinet was managed by forming specific committees: one dedicated to social affairs and another to economic policy. However, he noted that President Muizzu did not serve on either of those committees.

Regarding the individual known as Baarashu Mike, let me be clear that he has never been someone I was close to. He was one of Ahmed Adeeb’s loyalists and henchmen. He was among the first to defect from the party to join President Maumoon’s side as a participant in that coup. Consequently, there is no goodwill or personal connection between him and me.

Furthermore, Yameen stated that Shujau is well-versed in the details of Adeeb’s embezzlement, alleging that Shujau was among those responsible for distributing the money provided by Adeeb at the time. Yameen added that beyond this, Shujau would have no other information to share.
