Member of Parliament for the Baarah constituency, Ibrahim Shujau, has disclosed several messages that the leadership of the People's National Congress (PNC) intended to convey to former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Speaking at a People's National Congress (PNC) rally held on Sunday, Shujau disclosed messages shared with him by four government ministers. He stated that Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen, Fisheries Minister Mohamed Shiyam, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, and Home Minister Ali Ihusaan had conveyed specific messages intended for former President Yameen. Shujau further noted that Minister Saeed had contacted him personally prior to his arrival at the gathering.

"Tell President Yameen that the price of a bottle of oil is at 19.50," he said. I then asked Saeed what he meant by that. He clarified that he was not referring to cooking oil at all. He said President Yameen would understand—that this is the medicinal oil used for pain relief, and it is currently priced at 19.50. Just as he was about to hang up, he added, "Also, tell him that by Tuesday, the price of that oil will drop to 18 Rufiyaa. And emphasize that this oil is specially reserved for President Yameen."

Shujau also shared a message that Minister Shiyam had requested to be conveyed to President Yameen. According to Shujau, the Minister asked him to inform President Yameen that the price of fish has risen to 20 Rufiyaa and that payments for the catch would be disbursed within 48 hours.

He stated that President Yameen should be informed that when the PNC took office and he assumed his ministerial role, Yameen had labeled the sector a "failed industry." He noted that Yameen had claimed President Muizzu would be unable to revitalize the industry. Shiyam requested that President Yameen be told that the current administration has already settled numerous outstanding payments left unpaid by the MDP government. He further highlighted that seaweed is now being exported, generating revenue in US dollars.

Shujau further stated that Minister Ameen contacted him next, requesting that he inform former President Yameen that preparations are now complete to bring the second wide-body aircraft to the Maldives. The Minister also asked to convey that the tourism sector is on track to reach its targets.

Shujau further stated that the most recent contact was made by Minister Ihusaan, who requested that President Yameen be informed of the government's preparations to implement the death penalty. Shujaau added that the Minister asked him to convey that while President Yameen had lacked the courage to carry out such executions, this administration is prepared to do so.

Noting that those currently criticizing the PNC are the very individuals who should refrain from doing so, Shujau urged them to reflect more deeply on the nation's interests.
