President Muizzu expresses frustration over stalled projects, sharply criticizes cabinet ministers

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the stalling of government projects, reportedly reprimanding his ministers during a cabinet meeting.

During Sunday's cabinet meeting, the President criticized several ministers, attributing the stagnation of various projects to their negligence.

According to a reliable source, President Muizzu directed his sharpest criticism toward the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ibrahim Faisal, during the meeting. RaajjeMV reached out to Minister Faisal via phone calls and messages to clarify the details of the matter; however, he has yet to provide a response.

Furthermore, President Muizzu strongly condemned current Finance Minister Hassan Zareer and former Finance Minister Moosa Zameer regarding the failure to secure funding for various projects. The President reportedly spoke in an angry tone during the session, leading to Sunday’s cabinet meeting being adjourned much earlier than its usual scheduled time.

Reports indicate that the government is currently facing significant challenges in securing foreign aid for budget support and development projects. With efforts to obtain external financing remaining unsuccessful thus far, sources suggest that the pressure on the administration has intensified considerably.

Despite President Muizzu’s repeated assurances that funding was secured for the numerous projects awarded ahead of the elections, a significant number of these initiatives have now come to a standstill. These include projects initiated by the previous administration as well as new ventures launched by the current government. Furthermore, the issue of non-payment to private contractors for completed work has escalated into a major concern.

As the government faces mounting public criticism over these issues, members of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) in Parliament are also expressing their concerns regarding the matter.
