A 41-year-old Maldivian man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
Police announced on Thursday that a 41-year-old Maldivian man was arrested on September 3, 2026, in a southern atoll for the alleged sexual, physical, and psychological abuse of a 13-year-old girl. The suspect is reported to be an individual who held a position of trust in relation to the victim.
Police stated that when the individual was produced before the court for a remand hearing, the court ordered him to be remanded in custody for a period of 30 days.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
