Neykurendhoo development projects grind to a halt, including those nearing completion

It has been revealed that no new projects have commenced in HDh. Neykurendhoo in line with the current administration's pledges, while projects initiated by the previous government have also come to a standstill.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, Mohamed Raee, the former Member of Parliament for the Makunudhoo constituency and a member of the MDP National Council, expressed deep concern over the stagnation of development projects in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

Raee stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had pledged to expand the Neykurendhoo harbor by an additional 200 feet. He noted that while a significant portion of the harbor development had been completed under the MDP administration, no progress has been made on the current government's promise to further expand the harbor since the change in administration.

Furthermore, Raee stated that the majority of the structural work for the four classrooms built at the local school had already been completed during the MDP administration. He noted that the current government had dragged out the project for three years, only recently making the facilities functional for teaching. He also pointed out that the proposed sports complex project for the island is no longer visible in the state budget.

Referring to the road construction project, Raee noted that despite being a pledge made by President Muizzu, it remains unfulfilled. Raee further expressed concern that the water and sewerage services, which were initiated by the previous administration and were nearing completion, have yet to be provided to the citizens.
