Shiaau's murder: Closing statements delivered in intentional homicide trial of Shahil; sentencing to follow next

Of the five original charges filed in this case, Shahil is already serving a three-year prison sentence after being found guilty of drug possession and the possession of child pornography.

The trial of Ali Shahil, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of Shiaau Mohamed Saeed inside a Male' apartment, has reached the sentencing stage for the charge of first-degree murder and all other related charges.
While the prosecution presented its closing statement during a previous hearing in this case, the defense for Shahil delivered its closing arguments during Wednesday's session.
Consequently, unless the presiding judge identifies further matters during the review of the case, the next stage of the proceedings will be the delivery of the verdict. Accordingly, the court is scheduled to issue its judgment on the charges of intentional homicide and possession of pornography, as well as an additional charge that has been kept confidential out of respect for the family's privacy, during the upcoming hearing.
A total of five charges were brought against him in this case. Thus far, he has been found guilty of possession of child pornography and the use of cannabis. Following these convictions, he was previously sentenced to 3 years, 1 month, and 6 days in prison.
Citing the post-mortem report, police previously stated that Shiaau's death was caused by injuries intentionally inflicted upon her body. Authorities further noted at the time that the victim had sustained numerous additional injuries even after her death.
