The man arrested in connection with the murder reported from Addu City’s Maradhoo-Feydhoo has been remanded pending outcome of trial.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) arrested a 25-year-old Maldivian man in connection with the murder, on Thursday afternoon, under a court order.
He is accused of killing his brother, in an assault.
The assault which rooted from a verbal disagreement between two brothers, was reported to authorities on Wednesday evening, at around 11:38pm when a 27-year-old man, identified as Ahmed Shuaib native to Maradhoo-Feydhoo, was rushed to Addu Equatorial Hospital for treatment. Authorities have reported that Shuaib was in critical condition when he was brought in to the hospital.
Shuaib succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at AEH, in the early hours of Thursday.
RaajjeMV understands that the quarrel broke out between the two brothers over a phone. Their verbal quarrel spun out of control just outside of their home.
The assault took place on the pavement opposite their residence. Witnesses have reported that the victim attained severe injuries to different parts of his body including his chest and neck.
The police institution is currently investigating the case.
