The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has opened the opportunity to submit amendments to its charter and policies ahead of the party’s upcoming congress.
On August 5, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) released the official schedule and key deadlines for its upcoming congress. As part of the proceedings, the party has opened the window for submitting proposed amendments to its policies and internal charter. The deadline for these submissions is set for 12:30 PM on August 19. The party has also established an online mechanism to facilitate the submission process.
Amendments proposed to the party's charter and its core policies are set to be finalized during the congress, with the formal proposals scheduled for public release on August 31.
The party has also opened registrations for branches to participate in the congress, with a deadline set for August 31. MDP stated that all party branches must complete their formal procedures in accordance with established regulations within this period.
Furthermore, the congress schedule states that the official list of delegates eligible to vote will be published by 1:30 p.m. on September 1. According to the timeline released by the MDP, online registration for congress participants will open on September 5, with the registration period set to conclude on September 10.
The decision to hold the MDP Congress on September 19 was finalized during the party's 36th National Council meeting held this August.
