Maziya edges Odi Sports Club in cup opener

Maziya Sports and Recreation launched their Cup Winners' Cup run on a positive note by prevailing against Odi Sports Club during their first fixture.
Playing on Monday evening at Galolhu National Stadium, Maziya captured a 2-1 triumph. The squad initially jumped ahead before Odi Sports Club leveled the scoreboard. Nevertheless, Maziya struck a second time to recapture the lead and lock down the win.
Nassah Ibrahim Nasir opened the scoring in the 18th minute to grant Maziya the early advantage. Odi Sports Club answered back a decade of minutes later when Muzdhaan Hassan converted a goal to tie the game. Maziya then found the game-winner during the 78th minute of the second half via a finish from Ahmed Aiham.
The fixture served as the inaugural game for Czech head coach Thomas Trucha at Maziya's helm. Moving forward, Maziya will compete against Buru Sports Club in their next game on Thursday afternoon, before wrapping up group play versus New Radiant Sports Club.
At the beginning of the current season, Maziya had previously bested New Radiant in the Charity Shield fixture that kicked off the overall season.
