Maldivian and Air India have signed an agreement intended to expand travel connectivity between the Maldives and India and streamline onward travel to islands across the Maldivian archipelago.
According to a statement issued by Maldivian, the agreement will provide the airline with access to Air India’s extensive international network.
It will also enable passengers arriving in the Maldives through Delhi and Mumbai to make smoother onward connections to 16 domestic destinations beyond the capital, Malé, consolidating transit routes under a more coordinated system.
Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer stated that the arrangement is expected to improve opportunities for Indian travelers to visit different parts of the Maldives through a single itinerary.
He underscored that the Maldives continues to be a major destination for Indian tourists and argued that strengthened connectivity will play a key role in supporting the long-term growth of tourism.
