Concerns are mounting among residents of Hiyaa Flat Tower 2 as recurring technical issues with the building's elevators have prompted a surge in complaints.
Residents of the area informed "RaajjeMV" that this issue has escalated significantly in recent times. They further noted that, on some occasions, the problem remains unresolved for as long as two to three days.
Residents of Hiyaa Flat Tower 2 have reported that ongoing elevator malfunctions are causing severe congestion in waiting areas during peak hours, leading to increased hardship for children and the elderly. Residents further noted that despite numerous complaints, no effective solution has been provided to date.

Reports indicate that it has now been over a month since these issues first began to emerge.
At times, the elevators only open when summoned from the upper floors; they often remain unresponsive for extended periods despite repeated attempts to call them from the ground level. The government has officially contracted China's Shenyang Yuanda Intellectual Industry Group Co. Ltd. to carry out the practical work of installing two additional elevators in each of the Hiyaa flat towers.
According to information previously provided by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, the installation of 32 new elevators will cost $18 million (MVR 278 million).
