The People's Majlis sitting scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Monday has been postponed without an official reason being disclosed.

The agenda for Monday's parliamentary sitting includes three inquiries directed at the Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib. These consist of two questions submitted by Maavah MP Ahmed Shakir and one by the Member for the Kendhoo constituency. Additionally, the agenda features the formal referral of the nomination for the Maldivian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain to the relevant committee for review.

Furthermore, the agenda includes the preliminary debate on a resolution submitted to the People's Majlis, which highlights that numerous individuals are being dismissed from their jobs for political reasons under the guise of cutting costs and streamlining staff numbers at state-owned enterprises. Additionally, the sitting will proceed with the debate on the bill to amend the Waste Management Act.

Despite a heavy agenda compared to previous days, the sitting failed to commence by 9:00 AM. Furthermore, no explanation was provided to the members regarding the cause of the delay.

When RaajjeMV inquired with the Parliament Secretariat regarding the delay in starting the session, the administration stated that the sitting had been rescheduled to 09:30 AM. Members of Parliament were subsequently notified of the change.

Monday's sitting commenced at 9:30 a.m., 30 minutes later than the originally scheduled time.

The 20th People’s Majlis has become characterized by the abrupt cancellation and postponement of sittings without any disclosure of the underlying reasons.
