Grievance office proposal reflects failure of government appointees: Moosa
Former MP Reeko Moosa Manik has criticized the government, stating that opening a dedicated office to address public grievances is a sign of failure, as listening to and resolving such issues is a fundamental responsibility of cabinet ministers. He alleged that President Muizzu is avoiding direct engagement with the public due to the country's deteriorating economic situation, rising inflation, and the suspension of various development projects. Highlighting widespread public dissatisfaction with current policies, Moosa emphasized that a president must be willing to listen to the people's concerns regardless of the circumstances.

Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament and former Chairperson of the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Reeko Moosa Manik has stated that the establishment of a dedicated office to hear public grievances highlights the failure of the government's political appointees.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Moosa stated that the current cabinet lacks individuals capable of listening to and resolving the grievances raised by the public. He emphasized that it is the legal responsibility of ministers to address these issues in accordance with the law. Furthermore, he noted that attending to and resolving public complaints is an inherent part of a minister's official mandate and duties.
Moosa stated that the public rejected the current administration in the recent election for those very reasons.
Furthermore, he noted that things were handled differently during the MDP administration, highlighting that they initially reached out to the public to clarify their grievances and concerns.
He stated that manifestos outlining solutions to these issues have been formulated, and that a specific system was established at the time to educate citizens on their rights and ensure their protection.
Moosa alleged that the President avoided visiting the islands during the recent election because he was unwilling to listen to the people's grievances. He stated that the President lacked the courage to face the public due to numerous unresolved issues, including stalled development projects, shortages of medicine, the rising cost of living, and frequent power outages.
