Government is working to steal 2028 presidential election through Maldives 2.0: Asif
Legal counsel Asif has alleged that the "Maldives 2.0" digital system is a fraudulent scheme orchestrated to rig the 2028 presidential election. Asif further claimed that the Elections Commission's independence is compromised as President Muizzu is appointing a close associate to lead the body, warning that these developments will inevitably drive citizens to take to the streets in protest.

Legal counsel Adam Asif has alleged that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration is attempting to rig the 2028 presidential election through the 'Maldives 2.0' initiative, describing it as a sophisticated and premeditated crime.
Speaking on Sunday night’s "Fala Surukhee" program, attorney Asif stated that the "Maldives 2.0" digitalization initiative introduced by the current administration is a deceptive scheme. He further alleged that the project is being orchestrated by government officials to serve specific personal interests or hidden agendas.
He alleged that these efforts, through the 2.0 initiative, are part of a scheme to rig the 2028 presidential election. Furthermore, he stated that while the government claims the 2.0 system will enhance services through digitalization, this is not its true purpose. Instead, he characterized it as a meticulously planned deception aimed at misleading the public.
Furthermore, Asif stated that the President of the Elections Commission would be an appointee of President Muizzu, which he claims would compromise the commission's independence.
I believe that "2.0" is essentially a deceptive ploy presented to the public well in advance to facilitate the theft of the 2028 presidential election. We recently witnessed a clear sign of this strategy with the move to appoint the current Registrar of the ruling PNC to the Elections Commission. Whether he is appointed as the President or Vice President of the Commission—though it is widely expected he will take the presidency—he was most recently serving at the Hajj Corporation. The day is coming when the public will see the true reality of what "2.0" actually represents.Attorney-at-Law Adam Asif
Asif stated that a series of questionable activities are expected to unfold within the Elections Commission in the near future. He further noted that the public is likely to take to the streets in protest against these developments.
