A reliable source has reported that 11 employees were abruptly dismissed due to political influence, following a notification on Sunday regarding their termination. Those terminated include staff members who had been working at the Fenaka Corporation’s Veyvah branch since 2021 and 2022.
Critics on social media have condemned the government's actions regarding this issue, labeling it an uncivilized move aimed at displacing specific families. They further noted that the situation has disrupted the peace and social harmony within the island community. Some commentators have also expressed concern over the current political climate, suggesting that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is pushing the country toward the brink of a revolution.
A significant number of employees at the Veyvah branch of Fenaka Corporation have been dismissed from their positions. This follows a period where, leading up to elections, the current administration recruited personnel for state-owned enterprises far exceeding actual requirements. Due to the severe financial repercussions of this overstaffing, the company has been compelled to downsize, resulting in ongoing staff reductions across various Fenaka branches in the islands.
Furthermore, as part of the efforts to streamline the workforce, a voluntary redundancy opportunity was offered between June 4, 2026, and June 14, 2026, providing a severance package equivalent to four months' salary. Fenaka has stated that 97 employees applied for voluntary resignation under this program.
