MDP establishes "Bodu Badhalu" office
Following the election of former President Mohamed Nasheed as the Chairperson of the MDP, a dedicated office for his "Bodu Badhalu" campaign has been established within the party's secretariat. Hassan Latheef has been appointed as the Director General of this office, a move sanctioned by the National Congress to further strengthen and streamline the party's activities.

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has established the "Bodu Badhalu" which translated means "Great Change" office at its national secretariat.
The decision to establish this office was proposed by the chair and subsequently approved by members during the 35th session of the 4th National Congress in 2026. Following the approval, the MDP issued a formal statement on Sunday to publicly announce the decision.
The decision to establish this office was passed during the first National Congress meeting presided over by former President Mohamed Nasheed following his election as the party's chairperson.
According to the MDP, Hassan Latheef has been appointed as the Director General of the office.
The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) continues to operate as the largest political party in the Maldives. The party consistently strives to strengthen its internal activities and expand its efforts in serving the public.
"Bodu Badhalu" was the campaign slogan used by Nasheed during his bid for the MDP chairpersonship. The campaign primarily focused on proposed reforms and structural changes to the system of governance. These included recommended amendments to the legal framework as well as measures aimed at strengthening state administration. Detailed information regarding these proposed changes was shared by President Nasheed's team throughout the course of the campaign.
