Finance Minister Zareer’s appointment sent to committee for review
Following the resignation of Moosa Zameer from the post of Minister of Finance due to health reasons, the President has appointed Hassan Zareer to the position. Prior to this appointment, Zareer served as the Commissioner General of Taxation and is a seasoned professional with advanced qualifications in the fields of accounting and finance.

The Parliament has referred the appointment of Hassan Zareer as the Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises to the Government Oversight Committee for review. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu submitted the matter to the Parliament seeking formal approval for the appointment.
Zareer was appointed to the position on June 8, following the vacancy created by the resignation of Finance Minister Moosa Zameer on Monday.
RaajjeMV understands that Zameer cited health reasons for his resignation. In his letter, he stated that his medical condition requires hospitalization, noting that he was recently admitted for treatment. Zameer had previously undergone surgery in December.
In his letter, Zameer stated that his current health condition does not permit him to fulfill the demanding responsibilities associated with a ministerial position.
The parliamentary committee has begun reviewing the appointment of Moosa Zameer as Minister of Finance. Prior to assuming this role, Zameer served as the Commissioner General of Taxation, heading the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA). In addition to being a qualified Chartered Accountant, Zameer holds advanced academic qualifications in the fields of accounting and finance.
