At a ceremony held to mark World Blood Donor Day, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed expressed her profound gratitude and appreciation to those dedicated to the noble humanitarian service of blood donation. During the event, she presented awards and commemorative plaques to long-term donors and individuals who have provided significant support to the cause in various capacities.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stated that while financial generosity may be reserved for the wealthy, the opportunity to be generous through blood donation is open to everyone. She called upon all eligible individuals to donate blood, urging them to seek the spiritual rewards of this act and provide this vital service to humanity.
She made this appeal while speaking as the guest of honor at a ceremony held Tuesday night to commemorate World Blood Donor Day.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the Islamic Centre’s seminar hall, the First Lady highlighted the profound significance of observing Blood Donor Day, describing blood donors as distinguished individuals who hold a unique place of honor for multiple reasons. She noted that a primary objective of dedicating a day to honor donors is to encourage this noble act of humanitarian charity. She further emphasized that such contributions foster a culture of selflessness aimed at saving lives, while nurturing compassion and mutual respect within society. Concluding her remarks, the First Lady expressed her gratitude to those who continue to provide this invaluable service.
Furthermore, she encouraged those who may feel hesitant or fearful of donating blood to embrace this invaluable humanitarian service and seek the rewards it offers.
The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates and plaques of appreciation to long-term blood donors, 18-year-olds who have recently begun donating, and the organizations that hosted the most blood donation camps and secured the highest number of donations over the past year. Additionally, the prestigious Gold Award was presented during the event to honor the contributions of long-term blood donors.
Furthermore, a Lifetime Contribution Award was presented to honor those who have donated the highest volume of blood to date. The awards were presented by the First Lady.
World Blood Donor Day is observed internationally on June 14th each year to honor those who donate blood. The ceremony held to mark the occasion was attended by healthcare professionals and a significant number of blood donors.
