137 officials graduate from MNDF's 72nd Basic Training Course
Hassan Rasheed officiated the closing ceremony of a three-month military training course held in Addu City, where Private Mohamed Nazeeh Rashid was honored as the best all-round student. During the ceremony, the Minister presented awards and certificates to the top-achieving graduates of the program. Designed for new recruits, this essential training focused on instilling fundamental military skills and professional discipline within the Maldives National Defence Force.

A total of 137 soldiers have graduated from the 72nd Basic Training Course of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The Minister of Defence and National Service, Hassan Rasheed, presided as the guest of honour at the graduation ceremony of the 72nd Basic Training Course, held Thursday evening at the Addu Training Centre. During the ceremony, the Minister conducted a formal inspection of the parade before presenting awards and prizes to the outstanding graduates who achieved top honors in the course.
The MNDF stated that 137 students have successfully graduated from this course.
The training program, conducted by the MNDF College of Defence and Security Studies, commenced on March 7, 2026, and spanned a duration of three months. The course was held at the MNDF Southern Area Command’s Addu Training Centre.
During the ceremony, the oath of enlistment was administered to the students by the Commander of the College of Defence and Security Studies, Brigadier General Dr. Hussain Ibrahim.
The Basic Training Course is an introductory program designed to educate and train new recruits to a standard that enables them to serve across various branches of the military. The primary objective of the course is to ensure that every graduate is a patriotic, disciplined, and physically fit soldier who upholds high moral standards and remains obedient to the chain of command. Furthermore, the program focuses on equipping recruits with the fundamental knowledge and essential skills required of military personnel.
Furthermore, Private Mohamed Nazeeh Rasheed (Service No. 9047) was honored as the Best All-Round Student of the 72nd Basic Training Course. The "Commander Motar Hassan Manik Award" for physical fitness was presented to Private Aishath Rana Abdul Rahman (Service No. 9076). Meanwhile, Private Anoos Mohamed (Service No. 9058) received the "Commander Ismail Didi Award" for excellence in drill, and Private Mohamed Razan Ali Zahir (Service No. 9156) secured the "Major English Umar Manik Award" for best marksman.
Sierra Platoon of the Shaheed Corporal Hussain Adam Company was named the best overall platoon of the course. Within the Shaheed Corporal Hussain Adam Company, Private Fathimath Sara Adam (Service No. 9067) achieved first place in Sierra Platoon, while Private Aishath Rana Abdul Rahman (Service No. 9076) secured the top spot in Alpha Platoon. Additionally, Private Maiz Mohamed Zuhair (Service No. 9062) was named the best student of Tango Platoon, and Private Ulwan Athoof Areeb (Service No. 9154) earned the top position in Charlie Platoon.
