Serious injuries reported in speedboat accident; two hospitalized in critical condition
Two crew members are receiving treatment at IGMH for serious injuries sustained after the speedboat "Tour Guard" crashed while traveling from Villingili to Gili Lankanfushi. Two people have sustained serious injuries following a dangerous maritime accident involving a speedboat carrying two passengers.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) reported that the Coast Guard Second Squadron of the Male’ Area Command has provided emergency assistance following an accident involving a speedboat named "Tour Guard," which was traveling with two people on board.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated that two crew members aboard the speedboat sustained serious injuries in the incident and are currently receiving treatment at IGMH.
Providing further details, the MNDF stated that the speedboat was en route from Villingili to Gili Lankanfushi. Authorities received reports of the accident while the vessel was still in close proximity to Villingili.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has stated that the Maldives Police Service is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the speedboat accident.
Footage of the accident and photographs released by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) show that the bow of the speedboat was completely destroyed in the collision.
