HDC unaware of ongoing work on land adjacent to Udhares Tower 11 and Amaan Dhoadhi Tower 16
Residents are expressing growing concern over ongoing construction on land previously designated for public parks and recreational spaces within the Hulhumalé Fahi Dhiriulhun flats area. While the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) claims to be unaware of the specific nature of the work, allegations have surfaced suggesting the plots were sold below market value, though the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has stated that it is unaware of the nature of the work being carried out on the plot of land situated between Tower 11 of the Fahi Dhiriulhun flats and Tower 16 of the Amaan Dhoadhi towers.
Construction work is currently underway in the vacant areas adjacent to Udhares Tower 11 and Amaan Dhodhi Tower 16, which have been cordoned off for the project. Residents of these towers claim that the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) had previously informed them that these plots were designated for the development of public parks and recreational spaces. However, many residents are now expressing concern over allegations that a large building is being constructed on the site instead.
When contacted by the "Fashaairu" program on Monday regarding the issue, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Assistant Managing Director Mohamed Siraj stated that any work conducted on HDC land requires prior authorization. However, he noted that he was unaware of the specific activities being carried out on these two plots or whether any work was currently underway. He further added that he would share more information once the details have been clarified.
Furthermore, FDC was unavailable for comment regarding this matter. Additionally, FDC Managing Director Hamdhaan Shakeel did not respond to multiple phone calls.
Various claims are being circulated regarding these two plots of land.
In this regard, some have also alleged that both plots of land were sold to certain parties at prices well below their market value.
Many are expressing concern that if the land surrounding the towers built under the "Gedhoruveriya" housing scheme is sold for further construction, residents will be left without any parks or open spaces for recreation and relaxation.
