The Fahi Union has urged recipients of the 4,000 housing units developed by the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) to obtain the necessary documentation via the FDC portal and submit their applications to the Male' City Council to register as permanent residents of Male'.
In a statement, Fahi Union noted that the City Council has confirmed it is making final preparations to register residency, once the Ministry of Housing and the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) complete all necessary formalities.
Addressing a query from Member of Parliament Mohamed Ibrahim during a legislative session, Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed stated that under the government's established framework, residents can obtain property registration through a rent-to-own model rather than a standard sales and purchase agreement. He further noted that the Malé City Council was formally instructed via a letter on April 22 to facilitate all necessary procedures for the issuance of these registrations.
The Minister stated that the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) was formally instructed in writing that day to authorize the Male' City Council to process residency registrations. Furthermore, the FDC was directed to issue all necessary documentation, including official letters, to individuals who have been allocated housing units to facilitate this process.
The Fahi Union has announced that the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has begun issuing the necessary documentation for flat recipients to register as residents of Male' City. Since the 6th of this month, eligible individuals have been able to request these documents through a dedicated FDC portal, which are required for submission to the Male' City Council to complete the residency registration process.
In a letter addressed to the Male' City Council, the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) confirmed that the individual in question is a recipient of one of the 4,000 social housing units developed by the corporation. The FDC further stated that the lease-to-own agreement has been signed and the unit has been officially handed over to the recipient.
The corporation stated in the letter that it has no objection to registering individuals designated by the unit recipient in the Male' Permanent Resident Registry, upon the recipient's request.
The Fahi Union has called upon the Male' City Council to facilitate the registration of the 4,000 flat recipients in the Male' residents' registry without further burdening them, noting that these individuals currently face significant challenges due to their lack of official residency status.
