No-confidence motion filed against Deputy Speaker Nazim

A no-confidence motion has been submitted against the Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis and Member of Parliament for the Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Nazim.
The People’s Majlis has confirmed that a resolution seeking a vote of no-confidence against Nazim has been submitted to the parliamentary secretariat. The Majlis further stated that the matter will proceed in accordance with the Constitution and the Standing Orders of the People’s Majlis.
However, the exact number of members who signed the resolution to remove Nazim from his position as Deputy Speaker of Parliament has not been disclosed. While the no-confidence motion against him has been submitted, rumors of a rift between Nazim and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had already been circulating prior to this development.
The PNC parliamentary group initiated a no-confidence motion against Nazim on Wednesday. By the end of the day, the group had already secured the required number of signatures to formally submit the motion. Prior to these developments, Nazim had been removed from the WhatsApp group used by President Muizzu to provide instructions to the PNC parliamentary group.
