Bank of Maldives (BML) has formally initiated its Chartered Banker Programme, intending to expand the depth of its current certified knowledge base.

This project stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) finalized with the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers in January 2026, which was established to assist in cultivating banking professionals within the financial industry of the Maldives by utilizing professional growth initiatives and Chartered Banking credentials.

A total of 30 workers from the country's national bank have been registered in this initial group, and they are anticipated to secure their credentials over the course of two years.

The financial institution's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef, expressed that the entity views its workforce as its most valuable resource. He noted that ongoing professional advancement is crucial for fortifying the institution and cultivating tomorrow's leaders. He further conveyed his certainty that the insights and experiences acquired via this curriculum will provide valuable benefits to the individual advancement of the workforce while bolstering the ongoing advancement of the institution.

The Chartered Banker Programme is administered via the BML Academy, which serves as the financial institution's specialized hub for organized workforce advancement. This allocation of resources highlights the long-standing dedication of BML to cultivating internal competencies, reinforcing its company-wide evolution, and providing premium financial solutions throughout the Maldives.
