Work on Rasmaadhoo Police Post, which Muizzu pledged would commence in 2025, has yet to begin
The R. Rasmadhoo Island Council has expressed concern over the delayed construction of a local police post, despite the completion of administrative procedures and the allocation of land. Although President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu pledged to establish police services on the island by early 2025, the council noted that the failure to commence physical works poses a significant challenge to community safety. Emphasizing their continued cooperation with the government on developmental projects, the council urged authorities to expedite the process and fulfill the commitment without further delay.

The R. Rasmadhoo Island Council has stated that work on establishing a police post on the island has yet to commence, despite more than a year having passed since the land was officially handed over for the project.
In an interview with Raajje TV, Rasmadhoo Council Member Murthala Rasheed stated that it has been a significant amount of time since the land registry and all necessary administrative formalities for the construction of a police post were completed and handed over to the government.
Rasheed stated that although Fenaka employees had previously cleared the site designated for the construction of the police post, delays in commencing the project have left the land in a state that requires clearing once again.

It has been a considerable amount of time since the Council finalized the registration of the land designated for the construction of the police post. We completed the registration process and all necessary documentation around August of last year. Following that, Fenaka employees were tasked with clearing the site where the police post is to be built. However, the area has now reverted to a state where it requires clearing once again. No work has commenced on the police post, and the site remains completely untouched.Murthala Rasheed, Member of the R. Rasmaadhoo Island Council
During his visit to Rasmaadhoo in January 2025, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that establishing a police station on the island would be a top priority for early 2025, noting that the service was currently unavailable there. However, the island council has expressed concern as no practical progress has been made toward fulfilling this pledge.
The council member further emphasized that the Rasmaadhoo Council remains fully committed to cooperating with the government on its initiatives. Addressing concerns that the government might withhold support if specific party candidates are not elected, he stated that the council’s priority is always to facilitate and advance developmental projects.
Regarding the matter, the council stated that despite the land being handed over, the lack of physical progress on the police post is a hindrance to the island's safety and security. Consequently, the council has called upon the government to commence the project as soon as possible.
