Police officially launch "Operation Blue Ray" for the local council elections
The Maldives Police Service has raised its operational status to Level 2 following the launch of a dedicated security operation for the upcoming Local Council Elections. Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikury instructed officers to prioritize professionalism, patience, and full respect for human rights when engaging with the public, emphasizing that ensuring a peaceful election is a vital service to the nation.

The Maldives Police Service has officially launched "Operation Blue Ray," a dedicated security operation for the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikury officially launched the operation during a special ceremony held this afternoon at Iskandhar Building.
Inaugurating the operation, the Deputy Commissioner urged officers to serve as role models in their conduct. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high ethical standards and compassion when interacting with the public, advising officers to prioritize patience and dialogue to resolve issues, even in tense situations. Furthermore, he stated that fully respecting human rights and protecting the dignity of every individual is a testament to the professionalism of the police service. He concluded by highlighting that their efforts represent a sincere commitment to the nation.
Furthermore, he stated that in a democratic system, the role of the police extends beyond mere law enforcement; it encompasses ensuring public safety, maintaining peace and order, and fostering a sense of security among the citizenry. He also expressed his full confidence in the courage and competence of the police force, stating he has no doubt that this operation will be conducted successfully and peacefully.

The briefing was attended by the Security Commander for the Local Council and Women's Development Committee Elections, Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdulla Shareef, along with executive officers, commissioned officers, and a large number of police personnel.
Police officers stationed across various islands participated in the briefing session via online platforms. Following this briefing, the operational status of the Maldives Police Service has been elevated to Level 2.
