Two arrested on suspicion of smuggling drugs into Maldives by air
Police have arrested two women, aged 25 and 29, for attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Maldives by air. Following their court appearance to determine their detention status, both suspects were ordered to be remanded in custody for 15 days, effective from the 17th of this month.

Two individuals have been arrested for allegedly smuggling over one kilogram of narcotics into the Maldives by air.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the two individuals were arrested in connection with a case involving the suspected smuggling, distribution, and sale of narcotics in the country.
Authorities have arrested two individuals in connection with this case: Alya Sharusa Naseer, 25, of G. Mutheegeage, Male', and Aminath Roona, 29, of Bijileeufa, K. Thulusdhoo.
One of the two suspects, Alya Sharsa Naseer, was arrested at Velana International Airport on the night of April 17, after being detained by Customs and handed over to the police. Aminath Roona was arrested in Hulhumale on the same night during a joint operation conducted by Drug Enforcement and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence in connection with the case.
When the two individuals arrested in connection with this case were brought before the court to determine their detention status, the court ordered them both to be remanded in custody for 15 days.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
