MDP has achieved significant success in its electoral efforts; as a result, this administration is now depleting the entire state treasury: MP Shamheed
MP Shamheed has accused the government of engaging in corruption and distributing jobs to influence upcoming elections. Alleging that the administration is misappropriating funds intended for essential services despite the country's deteriorating financial situation, he urged the public to reject the government. Furthermore, he warned that citizens may face severe financial hardships in the aftermath of the elections.

Dr. Ahmed Shamheed, the Member of Parliament for the South Hulhumale' constituency, has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration is depleting state resources in connection with elections because of the successful track record established by the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Speaking at the MDP’s "Heyvalla Thayyaaru" rally on Wednesday night, MP Shamheed stated that the party has carried out successful efforts ahead of the three elections scheduled for April 4. He further noted that it has become evident the government will be unable to secure the outcomes it desires.
He stated that the current administration is scrambling in its final moments to deplete state resources and distribute jobs. He further noted that blatant acts of corruption are being carried out openly in an attempt to secure election victories.
Referring to the current state of the country, MP Shamheed stated that despite the various concessions granted to the public in connection with the local council elections, the Women's Development Committee elections, and the referendum, the true reality will emerge once these polls conclude. He further noted that the public is expected to face significant hardships in numerous ways following the elections.
However, I must emphasize that the true extent of the people's hardship will only become apparent after this election. Both the Public Accounts Committee Chair, Ghafoor, and I serve on that committee, and we are well aware of the country's current financial state. Last year alone, one billion Rufiyaa had to be provided outside the budget just to keep HDC afloat. This is money that should have been allocated for your essential needs. Because these funds were diverted, we are now facing shortages of medicine and other basic necessities that the public is entitled to. By the time the current wave of recruitment is complete, and considering the discounts granted for the Hiyaa flats, I do not believe HDC can be sustained even with a two-billion-Rufiyaa injection from the state budget.Dr. Ahmed Shamheed, Member of Parliament for the South Hulhumale' constituency.
MP Shamheed stated that the coming days appear financially bleak and, considering the current situation, the public must reject this administration. He further emphasized that citizens must send a powerful message to the government by voting "no" in the upcoming referendum, which he claimed is designed to further impoverish the people.
