Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem), a member of the MDP National Congress, has stated that 22 cases of corruption involving President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration have been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), yet no response has been received regarding any of these matters to date.
On Wednesday, members of the MDP gathered outside the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to protest the commission's failure to investigate submitted cases, calling for the resignation of its president, Ahmed Shamil. Speaking to RaajjeMV at the scene, Maaz Saleem stated that all independent institutions under the current administration are in a "coma." He further alleged that despite blatant corruption occurring across the country, these oversight bodies remain oblivious to the situation.
Noting that 22 cases of corruption involving the current administration have been officially submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to date, Maaz Saleem stated that despite these formal filings, there has been no indication that any of the cases are being investigated, nor has any update been provided regarding their status.
Furthermore, Maaz Saleem stated that the government is prepared to embezzle state funds and that the Elections Commission (EC) stands ready to manipulate the results of the elections scheduled for the 4th of this month to favor the administration.
Despite all these issues being formally submitted, the relevant authorities remain passive and indifferent. We believe, as do the Maldivian people, that the Elections Commission has now rolled up its sleeves to facilitate President Muizzu’s agenda by rigging the vote and exerting undue influence. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is acting in the same manner. Therefore, I believe that even if the election results favor us or reflect the true will of the people, they will attempt to subvert the outcome by deploying the military and police onto the streets.Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem), a member of the MDP National Congress.
Maaz Saleem stated that times have significantly changed, and it is no longer easy to deceive the public regarding election results. He emphasized the crucial role of the police and military in closely monitoring the proceedings and prioritizing the national interest, while calling on them to uphold justice.
