Two Indian nationals remain missing after a speedboat capsized near Felidhoo
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) is conducting an extensive search operation for two Indian nationals missing after a speedboat capsized near V. Felidhoo. Despite scouring a vast area of Vaavu Atoll, authorities have yet to find any trace of the missing individuals. The vessel was carrying seven people at the time of the incident, and among those rescued was prominent Indian billionaire Gautam Singhania.

Police have stated that two individuals remain missing after a speedboat capsized near V. Felidhoo.
Police received reports of a speedboat capsizing at approximately 01:15 on the night of March 19, 2026.
Police stated on Saturday that the two individuals missing after a speedboat capsized have yet to be found, and that search operations remain ongoing.
At the time of the incident, there were seven people on board, including two women from the United Kingdom and Russia, and five Indian nationals. Two Indian nationals remain missing following the accident. The remaining passengers were rescued from the sea. Additionally, three individuals who sustained injuries were treated at the Vaavu Atoll Hospital.
Furthermore, the MNDF stated that efforts to locate the two missing individuals are ongoing via sea and air, as well as through the deployment of divers. The MNDF also noted that an extensive area of Vaavu Atoll has been searched so far.
According to Indian media reports, billionaire Gautam Singhania, Chairman of the Raymond Group, was among those involved in the incident. He was treated at a hospital in Mumbai for minor injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.
Tragic maritime incidents of this nature occur periodically, resulting in individuals being reported missing at sea.
