This government has abandoned Addu City to decay; only MDP councillors have brought any life to the city: Shahid
Noting that the definition of a "foundation stone" has changed under the current administration, Shahid remarked that while a foundation is inherently intended to be the base upon which a structure is built, the stones laid by this government remain exactly as they were with no further progress.

The President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Abdulla Shahid, has stated that the current administration has abandoned Addu City, leaving it to fall into ruin.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Addu City, Shahid stated that no development projects have been carried out in the city over the past two years, claiming that Addu has been left to fall into ruin. He further asserted that the only individuals working to revitalize the city are the MDP members currently serving on the council.
Addu City has been left to decay, a place losing its spirit and fading away. The only ones working to breathe life back into the city are the Mayor and the MDP councilors; they are the sole source of vitality in Addu City today.MDP President Abdulla Shahid
Shahid further stated that during the council election campaign, the President has focused entirely on door-to-door activities within the Male' area, sending a very clear message. He noted that this demonstrates the extent to which the development of the islands remains unimportant to the President and his administration.
The clear message here is that the people living in the islands do not matter to him, and that he will not even visit them to seek their votes. I urge the residents of Addu City to listen to this very carefully.MDP President Abdulla Shahid
Furthermore, Shahid noted that the definition of a "foundation stone" has changed since this administration took office. He remarked that while a foundation stone is inherently intended to be the base upon which a structure is built, under the current government, these stones remain exactly as they were laid, with no further progress.
Shahid noted that such locations are numerous, even when looking at Addu City alone. He further stated that the President is avoiding visiting these islands because he lacks the courage to face the reality of these sites.
Shahid has provided assurances that the MDP will fulfill its pledges. He further stated that the party will remain a steadfast advocate for the development of Addu City.
