MP Kudoo expresses concern over decision to celebrate Eid for three days amidst major ongoing war
Public concern and political criticism have mounted over the government's decision to hold large-scale Eid celebrations despite the economic instability caused by escalating tensions in the Middle East. While critics argue for fiscal restraint during these volatile times, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced that "Eid Haveeru 1445" festivities—featuring participation from the military, police, and ten state-owned enterprises—will proceed across various locations in the Greater Male' area over a three-day period.

Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudoo), the Member of Parliament for the North Galolhu constituency, has expressed concern over the decision to hold grand celebrations for "Eid Haveeru 1447" over a three-day period while a major war continues to unfold globally.
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated significantly following retaliatory strikes by Iran in response to joint military actions by the United States and Israel. As oil supplies tighten and the cost of goods continues to rise globally, various nations are implementing austerity measures and strategic interventions to mitigate the resulting economic shocks.
Referring to the matter, MP Kudoo expressed his profound astonishment at the decision to hold grand celebrations for "Eid Haveeru 1447" over a three-day period, noting that such a reaction was entirely justified given the circumstances. He further questioned whether there was anyone within the government capable of providing guidance at a time when the nation is facing a conflict with no clear end in sight.
In addition to MP Kudoo, several members of the public are expressing concern over the lack of transparency regarding the war and the government's failure to implement necessary austerity measures to reduce spending.
