MNDF provides assistance after flooding at Nilandhoo Gender Building

Firefighters cleared the blocked drainage systems and successfully drained the water from the affected rooms by approximately 11:47 p.m. that night.

Officers from the MNDF Nilandhoo Fire Station have intervened to drain floodwaters from the island's Gender Building following heavy rainfall in F. Nilandhoo.
The incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, September 9. The MNDF Central Area Command’s Nilandhoo Fire Station received the report at approximately 22:23. According to the MNDF, firefighters were dispatched immediately upon receiving the report and began providing emergency assistance at the scene.
Furthermore, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated that the primary cause of the flooding inside the building was heavy rainfall overflowing the gutters, which led to water leaking through the ceiling. This resulted in water entering the rooms and causing various degrees of damage.
The MNDF stated that they have successfully drained the flooded rooms and cleared debris blocking the gutters to restore proper drainage. The operation was fully completed by approximately 11:47 p.m. that night.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
