Authorities have taken action against a pickup driver who blocked a road to unload goods, obstructing an ambulance traveling with its siren active in Male'.
A video circulating on social media on Sunday shows a small pickup truck blocking traffic on Faashanaa Kilege Magu, a one-way street, while unloading goods. In the footage, the blaring sirens of an ambulance can be heard behind a line of larger vehicles, which were also sounding their horns as the ambulance remained stuck in the congestion.
Following the release of this video, it has come under intense public scrutiny and widespread criticism.
Regarding the matter, police stated that action has been taken against the driver of the pickup truck.
Police stated that the individual has been fined 750 Rufiyaa and their driver's license has been suspended.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Transport has confirmed that it is currently investigating the matter.
