Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced that from July 13, all vehicles except two-wheeled land vehicles can only be imported with permission from the ministry.
In an announcement made on July 6, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation announced that this change was implemented under the sixth amendment to the regulation on registering motorized land vehicles.
The announcement went on to read that the process for requesting permission to import such vehicles to the Maldives is now available through the ministry’s portal, as a result of this decision.
The announcement further highlighted that for all vehicles imported to the Maldives after July 13, except for two-wheeled land vehicles, the import permission must be submitted when applying for registration.
