Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has increased the fares of taxi rides in Greater Male' Area.

The Transport Ministry announced the changes in taxi fairs on Tuesday.

According to the changes brought by the Ministry, taxi fares for traveling in Male, Hulhumale Phase 1 and Phase 2 is MVR 30.

The fare for traveling from Male' to Hulhumale Phase 1 and Hulhumale Phase 1 to Male' is MVR 85.

The fare for taxi rides from Male' to Hulhumale Phase 2 and Hulhumale Phase 2 to Male' is MVR 100.

The taxi fares from Hulhumale Phase 1 to Hulhumale Phase 2 and from Phase 2 to Phase 1 is set at MVR 40.

Moreover, the Ministry set the taxi fare for travelling Male' and Hulhule at MVR 70, between Hulhumale' Phase and Hulhule at MVR 80 and taxi fare for rides between Hulhumale' Phase 2 and Hulhule was set at MVR 85.

The Ministry of Transport noted that the changes in taxi fares were brought due to the hike in oil prices in the global market.
