President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Abdulla Shahid, has characterized President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential address as a "mirage," stating that the public has begun referring to it as a "statement of lies."
Former Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has heavily criticized President Muizzu’s three-hour presidential address delivered at the opening of this year’s People’s Majlis. Shahid stated that this address, much like the President's previous two, was nothing more than a mirage. Furthermore, Shahid described President Muizzu’s address as a "pipe dream."
Today's Presidential Address was nothing more than a collection of hollow dreams presented to the public, solely because an election is looming.Abdulla Shahid, MDP President.
Shahid stated that President Muizzu has treated the public with utter disregard by presenting a new set of falsehoods while failing to fulfill any of the pledges made in the presidential addresses of the past two years. He added that the President has effectively buried those previous promises and moved on to further deception.
Today's reality is that prices are skyrocketing. With the value of the dollar reaching unaffordable heights, businesses collapsing, and the economy veering off course, there is no visible solution to the distress facing the entire nation.Abdulla Shahid, MDP President.
Shahid stated that the people's grievances remain unaddressed, adding that rather than offering relief, the Presidential Address has only brought further despair and disillusionment to the public.
