Work has ceased raising concerns about its future

The construction of the police station in Feeali island of Faafu atoll, for which President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu laid the foundation, has been stalled for several days after the columns were planted.

According to President of the Feeali Council Moosa Ahmed, Muizzu visited Feeali on 20 September 2025 to inaugurate the police station building by laying its foundation stone.

Moosa noted that while work commenced and the building's pillars were planted, the construction has now come to a halt.

Council President Moosa further stated that some essential materials for the project were brought in anticipation of Muizzu's visit to Feeali.

He explained that although the work began with these materials, including cement, aggregate and sand, supplies eventually ran out.

After the initial materials were depleted, Moosa mentioned that some supplies originally procured for a science lab building project initiated by the previous government in Feeali were utilized to bring the current police station construction to its present state.

He also highlighted that materials were sourced from various other islands within the atoll.

However, the work is now stalled due to a complete lack of necessary materials.

Moreover, Moosa indicated that the police station project was widely expected to proceed with "Muizzu speed."

He noted that staff were even recruited through Fenaka for this project, and while the work initially began at a rapid pace, it has now ceased.

The council president expressed concern, stating that questions have arisen regarding the future progression of this project.
