Bank of Maldives (BML) has successfully launched ATM services in Kondey and Kanduhulhudhoo islands of Gaaf Alif atoll, marking a major milestone as Gaaf Alif Atoll becomes the 10th atoll in the country to have ATM services available on every inhabited island.
The inauguration ceremonies, held on Thursday, were attended by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habib, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, along with senior officials from the bank.
The newly installed ATM centers in Kondey and Kanduhulhudhoo will offer 24-hour banking services, including cash withdrawals and deposits, significantly enhancing access to essential financial services for residents and businesses.
The initiative falls under BML’s nationwide “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” project, aimed at ensuring that every inhabited island has direct access to modern banking facilities.
BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef highlighted that the new ATM centers are a testament to our commitment to bring banking services closer to our customers, adding that from now, no residents in Gaaf Alif Atoll will need to travel to another island for basic banking needs.
He added that this is a significant step forward in empowering individuals and supporting local businesses.
With this expansion, the country’s national bank continues to strengthen its position as the leading financial institution in the country.
The bank now operates 42 branches across 20 atolls, 158 Self-Service Banking Centers, 217 ATMs nationwide, and a state-of-the-art online and mobile banking platform.
BML reiterated that its efforts are driven by a vision to support individuals, businesses, and communities by ensuring financial services are accessible regardless of geographic location.
