President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has departed for China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
During the trip, Muizzu is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In addition to this, he will meet with leaders of other SCO member countries. The President's Office has revealed that President Muizzu will participate in high-level meetings of the summit.
In his special address at the SCO Plus meeting, Muizzu will shed light on the significance of international cooperation in finding solutions to issues such as climate change, economic challenges, and geopolitical instability, as revealed by the President's Office.
The SCO is an important organization in the Eurasian region, established in 2001. The six founding countries of this organization include China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Currently, the organization has 10 member countries, making it the world's largest regional organization in terms of geography and population.
Maldives is active as a Dialogue Partner of SCO. In this capacity, the country works to strengthen relations with member countries in political, economic, and defense sectors.
