The government of India has donated two portable hospitals to the Maldives.

The medical cubes were handed over during a special ceremony held at Sultan Park on Friday, in connection with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing state visit to the Maldives, which began on Friday.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu received the medical cubes at the ceremony held at Sultan Park on Friday evening.

The "Aarogya Maitri Health Cube" is the world's first such cube developed as a portable hospital that can be moved from one place to another. These hospitals will provide ICU, operating theater, X-ray, and emergency services.

The cube includes kits and medicines for various situations, as well as equipment needed to set up according to different circumstances. In addition to this, through the "Bhishm App" designed for using this cube, information about the mini-cubes can be accessed, and the equipment within can be tracked.

This medical cube, which comes with a power generator, also contains equipment for blood tests. It is developed to provide high-quality emergency care to several people during major disasters.

Each cube can operate continuously for 72 hours. Further, it can provide treatment for 200 people. These cubes, which can be transported anywhere by helicopter or parachute, take only 12 minutes to set up and begin providing care.

The two portable cubes donated by India will be operated by the Maldives Emergency Medical Service (EMS), which operates under the Ministry of Health.

The Indian government has also conducted a training program related to the "Aarogya Maitri Health Cube" for the Maldives Emergency Medical Service.
