The body of Abdul Rahman Adam from Maalhos island of Alif Alif atoll, who was found brutally murdered in the island on July 13 has been sent abroad for an autopsy examination.
Abdul Rahman’s body was sent to neighboring India for the autopsy examination on Monday.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Thursday revealed that they were working to send the body to neighboring India's Trivandrum on Monday.
When asked why no one has been arrested so far in connection with Abdul Rahman's death and if there are any suspects, a police media official earlier confirmed that no one has been arrested yet, and no suspects have been identified so far in connection with the case.
However, the police were active on the island regarding the case. The official also mentioned that people are still prohibited from leaving the island without police permission, and the police are monitoring those who enter and leave the island.
The decision to conduct an autopsy examination on the victim’s body was made to determine the exact cause of death and to gather evidence necessary for the investigation.
In the incident, which occurred in the early hours of July 13, Abdul Rahman Adam, who was sleeping at home, sustained severe injuries. He passed away at dawn while receiving treatment at the island’s health center. According to available information, his head was smashed with an object.
The victim’s body was brought to Malé City for further analysis the same day.
According to sources, Abdul Rahman's family does not want a post-mortem examination to be conducted. The family stated that they do not wish for the post-mortem because they don't want to inflict any further harm to the body.
