The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has revealed that all transactions related to signing agreements with recipients of the 4,000 flats developed under the ‘Gedhoruveriyaa’ Scheme will be carried out by Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation Limited (FDC).
On Saturday, the ministry said that, considering the flat allocation policy under the Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme and the matters stated in the ministry's announcement, they have begun sharing information of flat recipients with FDC to proceed with signing agreements and handing over flats to the recipients of the scheme.
The ministry stated that the signing process will prioritize towers where construction work is completed and ready for handover. All transactions related to signing agreements with flat recipients will be conducted by FDC.
The housing ministry revealed that recipients who are sent to FDC for agreement signing will be notified through the Gedhoruverin Portal.
The ministry has urged all citizens to be cautious of phone calls and SMS messages, as neither the ministry nor FDC will contact individuals who have not been notified through the portal.
The government is working to distribute the flats on July 26, coinciding with Independence Day.
Regarding the scheme, the current government's Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, stated that the 4,000 housing units built under the Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration are satisfactory and provide good quality housing for the citizens.
The 4,000 housing units, a project initiated and structurally completed under the previous administration, had a finalized list of flat recipients. However, the current government initially opposed distributing flats based on the list, citing the need for further investigation. After a year and a half of unresolved delays amid legal constraints and growing public criticism, the government announced it would proceed with allocations according to the original list. The decision was officially announced at a press conference on 29 May 2025.
