The detention period has been set for two individuals arrested with 193 grams of suspected narcotics from a house in the capital, Malé City.
On Sunday, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that based on information received by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence, a house in the capital Malé City was searched, and two individuals were taken into police custody.
In connection with the case, Ahmed Samaah, 38 from Guraidhoo island of Thaa atoll, and Mohamed Jumail, 35 from Malé, were arrested.
The police went on to reveal that in a joint operation conducted by their Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence on June 19, substances believed to be narcotics were found during the search of the house. The provisional weight of the confiscated substances is 193.3 grams.
In addition to this, the police institution highlighted that when the two individuals were presented to court for a detention hearing in connection with the case, the court ordered Samaah to be detained until the end of the trial, and Jumail to be detained for five days.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
