A man reported missing while fishing with nets near L. Mahakanfushi has been found dead.
The council of Gan island of Laamu atoll revealed that the search was ongoing for Abdul Samad Mohamed, native to the island, who went fishing with nets near Mahakanfushi island of Laamu atoll with a group of others on Wednesday morning.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that a case of a man going missing after going into the water to fish near the island was reported to the police at around 9:50am on Wednesday. The police institution also highlighted that they have shared information about the missing person case with relevant authorities and were continuing the search.
RaajjeMV understands that the missing man was found at the bottom of the sea in the area where the search was being conducted.
The police institution went on to cite the hospital having confirmed the man’s death.
