The Criminal Court has ordered to extend the remand of Raud Ahmed Zilaal, who was arrested in connection with the incident where 21-year-old Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed fell onto the roof of H. Mithaaz from H. Fentenoy, on April 18.

The Criminal Court added 10 more days to Raud’s remand period on April 30.

In relation to the incident, Raud Ahmed Zilaal, 21, of G. Eriyadhoo in capital Malé City, was arrested under a court order at 06:20pm on April 24.

As the five-day detention period given by the court for Raud was set to expire on Wednesday, he was brought to court today to decide on his remand. The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has stated that the court has extended his remand by an additional 10 days.

According to the remand order, footage shows the suspect being active with the victim before the time she is believed to have fallen, and after the suspected time of the fall, he is seen calling out and searching for the injured party. However, the Investigation Officer noted that he had not filed any report about the incident to any authority. In addition to this, the suspect’s urine tested positive for cannabis as well.

Further, the investigation has revealed that there were disagreements between the injured party and the suspect that night, and shortly after the incident where the victim fell, when asked about the whereabouts of the injured party, the suspect said he didn't know where she was and that he believed she had fallen, as noted in the investigation.

Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, 21, was found fallen on a roof on the morning of April 18.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
